Breakfast Casserole
This breakfast casserole is a family tradition Every Christmas morning, and on other special occasions, my Mom would make this. It’s absolutely delicious.
Ingredients:
• 1lb mild sausage, cooked, crumbled and drained
• 6 slices white bread
• 2 tbsp margaine, softened
• 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
• 5 eggs
• 2 cups half and half
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/8 teaspoon pepper
• 1 teaspoon dry mustard
• parsley flakes
Directions:
Cut each slice of bread into 4 square pieces. Spread bread with soft margarine and place in the bottom of a 9x13x2-inch casserole dish. Sprinkle sausage and cheese over the bread. Combine remaining ingredients and beat well with a wire wisk or egg beater. Pour mixture over the sausage and cheese in the casserole dish. Chill in the refrigerator at least 8 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes, uncovered. Note: Hot sausage can be used. Recipe can easily be doubled by using 1 cup cheese and 10 eggs. All other ingredients remain the same.
